Aetina Corporation Announces MegaEdge AIP-RQ87

The Aetina Corporation announced the launch of MegaEdge AIP-RQ87, a new computing system for heavy-duty edge AI applications. The AIP-RQ87 is designed to help enterprises and system integrators implement several new and growing fields of AI technology in localized edge applications.

AI’s sprawl across the computing space is no secret, and Aetina cited that demand from growing enterprises for on-site AI-capable servers as the motivation behind the AIP-RQ87’s development. In particular, this AI system is being positioned as a potential downsizing alternative to more traditional, Cloud-based AI technology with a 2U rackmount frame while still carrying some eyebrow-raising hardware.

Onboard the RQ87 is a pair of Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Series GPUs with a combined memory of 192 GB, Qualcomm Cloud AI 100 Ultra accelerators, PCIe Gen5 x16 architecture, and Intel Core Ultra 5/7/9 processors with Intel Q870 chipset. Each of these components are some of the newest, most powerful individual components of their class.

Alongside the raw computational hardware, Aetina’s incorporated several of their own quality of life services, including a “cable-free split-circuitry design” power distribution board meant to reduce cabling and modular tool-free hardware installation. Rounding out the package is a 2000W power supply, and a 10GbE LAN port. It has secured CE, FCC Class A, and UKCA certifications.

Truth be told, some of Aetina’s claims are eyebrow-raising, particularly in a field like AI where companies habitually overpromise and customers should maintain healthy skepticism. While the AIP-RQ87’s specs are genuinely impressive, they are not about to dethrone dedicated data center equipment operating at a completely different scale. But for their specific purpose, powering on-site AI applications with edge computing, this is some of the most powerful hardware I’ve personally seen.

Aetina also highlighted several compelling use cases where you may not want to use Cloud-based AI regardless of any difference in raw compute such as legal work, internal business operations, and financial applications — essentially anything involving sensitive or proprietary information. AI companies have made it plain on multiple occasions that if your data ends up on their servers, that data will not stay confidential. In these cases, it’s reasonable to choose alternatives that do not come with the same risk of exposure.

Many of those applications may not be the most relevant for an industrial manufacturer, but the specific hardware needs for your edge applications are probably also less intense than a data center-powered LLM’s. Regardless, the MegaEdge AIP-RQ87 is now on the market for your consideration.
