Altech Corporation has released a new 85-A hinge-type DIN rail mountable ring lug terminal block, the STH5, which combines connection security with easy access. Applications include transportation and semiconductor equipment or any machinery susceptible to vibrations.

In power distribution and other heavy-duty applications, vibrating machinery can cause connection failures and damage wires. To achieve a vibration-resistant connection with an STH5, an installer simply crimps the wire to a ring lug and fastens it to the terminal block’s flat current bar. Only a standard flathead screwdriver is needed to tighten the connection and keep it in place. The touch-proof terminals feature a flip-to-open plastic hinged cover that makes installation, inspection and maintenance fast and easy. When flipped open, the IP20 hinge shrouds the conductive parts to allow safe and fast wiring.

Additional features and benefits include a bolt feed through terminals, compatibility with standard fork-type/ring lugs, two-lug connectivity and polyamide 66 insulation.

The STH5 hinge-type terminal block is designed for 22-4 AWG wires, carries 85A of current and has a 600-V rating. Optional DIN rail, end plate and marking tags are also available.
