TURK CMMT Condition Monitoring Sensor

TURCK, a provider of industrial automation solutions, announced the CMMT Condition Monitoring sensor designed to detect magnetic field changes on three axes. This feature indicates what direction the target object is traveling in relation to the sensor, detects rotation, and detects ferrous metal. In addition, it provides temperature measurement to monitor changes in motor operation and identify possible faults in electromagnetic motors. When packages contain strong magnets, they often pose a hidden risk on conveyors.

For intralogistics applications, magnets can adhere to metal components on the conveyor line, leading to unexpected jams. These jams can disrupt entire material flows, causing unplanned downtime. Using the CMMT magnetic field sensor enables early detection of magnets. Thanks to its non-contact, multi-axis detection, the sensor can identify magnets at the infeed even before the packages reach the actual conveyor line.

To ensure comprehensive monitoring, multiple CMMT magnetic field sensors can be strategically positioned along the infeed. As no specific alignment of an active face is required, they can be positioned both on the side walls and between the rollers of the conveyor belt to save space. This arrangement enables the sensors to detect changes in the magnetic flux density as the packages pass them.

Key Features and Benefits:
• Compact design for space-constrained applications
• Quick and easy mounting for reduced installation time
• Excellent EMI shielding and high IP rating for dependable operation in harsh conditions
• Reliable and repeatable switch points for accurate position detection
