HRI 2027

22nd Annual ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction

22nd Annual ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction
Dates: March 8 - 12, 2027
Location: Santa Clara, CA

The 22nd Annual ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction (HRI 2027) is the premier global event for basic and applied human-robot interaction research. Co-sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the conference is scheduled to take place from March 8 to March 12, 2027, in Santa Clara, California. Centered in the heart of Silicon Valley—a historic cradle for robotics innovations ranging from SRI’s Shakey to modern autonomous vehicle fleets—the conference bridges the gap between foundational academic research and industry application.

Themed "Innovative HRI," the 2027 gathering aims to push the boundaries of how humans and robotic systems interact across varying complexities. As an inherently interdisciplinary venue, HRI 2027 unites researchers, engineers, and practitioners specializing in robotics, artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction (HCI), human factors, and the social and behavioral sciences. Attendees will share theories, present technical breakthroughs, and evaluate datasets to improve interaction quality and analyze how robotic integration impacts organizational structures and society at large.

The five-day program features a rigorous peer-reviewed selection of full papers, short contributions, and late-breaking reports alongside dedicated workshops, interactive tutorials, and industry white papers. Highlighting practical design thinking, the event hosts a Student Design Competition themed "Robots in Public Spaces," which challenges international student teams to design systems that handle unpredictable real-world social dynamics in shared environments like transit stations and plazas. Attendees are also encouraged to explore neighboring Silicon Valley landmarks, such as Stanford University, Apple Park, and the Computer History Museum, enhancing the collaborative, forward-looking atmosphere of the event.
