Nordac Pro SK 500P variable frequency drives now support up to 200 hp, widening the line’s applications.
Nord Drivesystems recently expanded their Nordac Pro SK 500P line, a product family of variable frequency drives designed for a broad range of logistics and conveyor applications, with four new frame sizes. New models have expanded the line’s range up to 200 hp, with multi-protocol Ethernet interfaces, integrated functional safety and wireless diagnostics included.
These new models maintain the same feature list as the rest of the 500P line. They are designed to be compact, fit snugly side-by-side, and allow for an overall smaller footprint in your control cabinet. They are also capable of working with a wide range of components, including three-phase asynchronous motors as well as IE5+ permanent magnet synchronous motors, delivering high-precision control with strong overload capabilities for constant torque applications. Basic variants of the product series offer full PLC functionality, four parameter sets switchable directly online, an integrated brake chopper, Posicon positioning control, an energy-saving function, a CANopen interface and parameterization via plug-in control module, Nordcon software tool or app.
Advanced Nordac Pro models include additional inputs/outputs, SK TU5 plug-in control modules, SK CU5 extension modules and an integrated multi-protocol Ethernet interface that easily connects to Ethernet-based control systems and enables individual parameter configuration. Additional features include a USB interface that is accessible for voltage-free programming and parameterization even without a mains connection, a microSD card slot for data storage and transfer of parameter data between drives and computer interfaces and a diagnostic interface via RJ12 connection. Versions SK 510P and above offer functional safety options, such as STO and SS1, for safe shutdown to prevent hazards to people and damage to system components.
The four new frame sizes are all advanced models with many of these extra features. They are also available as several product variants, namely the SK 530P, SK 540P and SK 550P, with each featuring add-ons such as plug-in control and extension modules. They also can come with accessories including mains, DC link and motor chokes, braking resistors, control options and EMV-kits.
These models are also supported by Nordcon, Nord’s in-house commissioning and diagnostic software, which allows for fast and reliable parameterization. This free software is designed to make managing your drives quick and easy with a uniform user interface and dashboard-based visualization. This is further supported by Bluetooth compatibility. Nordac’s Access BT Bluetooth stick gives users the ability to connect with mobile devices for remote operation.
Nordcon also offers an oscilloscope function for drive analysis, a help function for rapid parameterization, backup and recovery functions and a Nordcon Scope function to support application engineers during initial commissioning, drive optimization during operation and diagnosis for servicing.
Nord markets their Nordac Pro VFDs across numerous industries, including but not limited to airport baggage handling, intralogistics, bulk material handling and packaging. These new models are in line with Nord’s usual policy of providing hundreds, if not thousands of variations on a product to suit the individual needs of virtually any industry under the sun. With these new frame sizes, they’ve expanded outwards yet again to capture new applications with higher power requirements.
